commentary posts from an article - Barack Obama
Barack Obama
It is a bit surprising for Americans to hear that it is almost certain that Barack Obama will run for the presidency because he is known as candidate with some negative flaws. First, he is young. He was born in 1961, when John Kennedy took office as president. As mentioned in The Economist, he lacks political experience, mostly towards foreign policy. It has been only two years since he was elected a Senator. This means that he has only two years of nation-wide political experience. However his supporters say that those short years and experience shows that he has a less stereotyped conception towards political issues compared to other members of the house and this characteristic will bring up some positive changes that those more experienced could not do. The second flaw could be his race. Unlike other candidates his heritage is mixed-his mother is white and his father is Kenyan. It is clear that he is in a superior position than any other candidate to get support from African-Americans. Nevertheless he has failed to gain their support. According to research conducted by the Washington Post and ABC, Hilary Clinton has three times more support than Obama. Experts find some reasons for his lack of popularity in his attitude - he presents his racial identity as 'black' but he acts as if he wants to get away from the limits of being 'black'. To make his dream become reality, he need to try to correct socially recognized faults and promote his merits wisely.
